ONNI JOSEPH BLASTS FUPRE'S 5th Legislative Arm

THE GREATEST LEVEL OF IGNORANCE DISPLAYED IN LEGISLATIVE HISTORY

I hence declare the entire 5th Legislative Arm of Students Union Government Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun as inexperienced and ignorant of their role as lawmakers. I am quite surprised of the extent at which lawmakers claim relevance over the Executive Council. Please listen to the ignorant rants of supposed custodian of the law who claim to be speaking the voices of the entire FUPRE Students Community:
1. The 5th Legislative Arm of the Students Union Government, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun already had six(6) sittings and countless meetings since her inauguration in September 2015 and the only achievements of all these are as listed below:

 a) Approval of 17.31% for Matriculation Party (A Night Event), 3.85% for President's Take-off Grant and an Illegal Speaker Take-off Grant of 2.69% even when the constitution has stipulated 10% should be left in the account and 40% for administrative cost. If I may ask, is it just 26.15% that would go for the the budget of "Students Week(a full week)", "Session Students Welfare", "Session Sport Events and Activities", "Session Media and Publicity Activities" etc.

 b) Insulting some Executive Council Officers viz: "Financial-Secretary" and "Treasurer" in the name of financial misappropriation probe. Take it or leave it, no legislator who has respect for the law binding him/her would insult the people elected to serve by those He claims to represent.

c) Sending letters that shows ignorance of responsibilities as resolutions/bills passed by them

2. They have shown everyone who appointed them from their various constituencies that they do not understand the nitty-gritty of the assignment given to them through the following inexperienced acts:

a) Requesting for an office in the Students Centre and revolting that without the office, budget won't be approved. If I may ask, what does legislators need office for when the President and Secretary-General of the Union are yet to have an office. Is that legislation or selfish interest?

b) Demanding for the key to the Students Centre Hall else budget would not be passed. If I may ask, What school of thought accents legislators to assume the constitutional role of the Secretary-General of the Government.

c) Challenging Executive Council of expending on emergencies without their approval. Who made them determinant of emergency expenses. If sitting was to hold before any emergency funds were released, can they meet up? And moreover, what gave them the right to challenge a Government who had been in office since October 2015 of making some necessary expenses when they are yet to approve any budget for the Government to set into motion? On a first note, they have even breached the constitution which they claim to be custodians of.

d) Approving a take-off grant for the Speaker of the House. If I may ask, to do what? Was He appointed to any Executive role?

e) Approving a salary structure that places floor members of the Students House of Assembly above a reasonable number of Executive Council Member. My question is: Who does the work? Who prepares the budget? Who executes and attends to Students demand from the Government? How come a less than 24-hours sitting cost more than a 30 days rigorous service that seldoms requires stabbing of classes and other hefty sacrifice? It was even reported that some honorable members were bold enough question the job of some Executive Council Members. If it were that easy, why did they not pick the form and convince students enough to the point of winning election to serve?

The work of an Executive Council Member was so easy when some of the honorable members advice a back-out from the school charges struggle after attending just a dialogue meeting. It sounds appauling to be informed that the governmental system is so corrupt such that nothing works if the Speaker of the House of Assembly has not cease every opportunity to perform his constitutional role to step into the boundary of the Executive Council in the name of ignorance and self-acclaimed relevance. Now, the same members of the present Students House of Assembly would transit to Federation House of Assembly to commit same and even greater blunder. I repeat again and again, not under my watch would I tolerate ignorance just to save someone's reputation because it is a pointing danger to the growth and development of my Fatherland, Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you are inexperienced, why take the responsibility and mess up the whole system?

MY CANDID OPINION

1. The Students House of Assembly has failed. In order not to shift their blames to elected officers (as it will always be), there is need for immediate action by The General Students Congress

2. There is need for a recall of all representatives by their various constituency as they have not been reporting to their constituencies neither have they been speaking the voice of their constituencies. The only voice I can hear so far is selfish/personal interest and financial greed Yours Sincerely in the Service of my Fatherland Remaining Loyal to my call as a National Servant
